Health and care services on the date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II State Funeral, Monday 19 September 2022

Following the news that there will be a national bank holiday on Monday 19 September to mark Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral, local health and care services are letting people know where they can access help and repeat medicines.

Anyone who is due to reorder their repeat medicines are also asked to check they have enough medicines to last over the longer weekend. You can save time by ordering prescriptions and seeking medical advice online by going online and downloading the NHS App.

If you do become unwell it is important that you get the right care in the right place and self-care when able to. Many minor issues can be dealt with at home or your local pharmacy and 111.nhs.uk can give you urgent medical help and advice. Visit the signposting website to find out more: togetherwe-can.com/

A well-stocked first aid kit at home containing things like plasters, antiseptic cream and painkillers can help you deal with minor accidents and injuries.

Although most GP practices in Leeds will be closed, appointments with GPs and other healthcare professionals are still available throughout the bank holiday weekend for those who need them. Appointments can be accessed by calling your usual GP practice number or by calling NHS 111 for advice.

There will be some pharmacies open over the bank holiday weekend. People can drop in for expert advice on many common illnesses such as headaches, sore throats and aches and pains. Pharmacies can also give you help and information on which medicines people can buy over the counter to help manage their illness.
