Dr Jane Mischenko
Role: Healthwatch Representative
Jane recently retired following a long career working in the NHS and latterly in strategic commissioning and partnership roles. She started as a general nurse and worked in research before becoming a health visitor. She then had a number of management and leadership roles in the city, particularly in relation to the health and wellbeing of children and families. Jane has been a member of national taskforces and national audit groups for children and young people’s mental health and for maternity and perinatal health. In conjunction with her professional career, Jane has also undertaken degrees, masters and a PhD, all focused on leadership within the public sector.
Jane is keen to ensure that all public sector organisations work with their local populations to develop and deliver the services they need. She has a particular passion for Leeds to work together towards reducing inequalities and to include a preventative focus as a priority; this will mean a strong focus on children and families across Leeds and particularly in populations who have greater risk of inequalities in health and wellbeing outcomes.
Jane is Co-Chair of Healthwatch Leeds, sharing the role with Jonathan Phillips.
