GP online

Most GP practices now offer a range of online services to patients, including booking GP appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions and accessing information in your personal GP record. These services are part of moves towards a more convenient and open general practice.

Choice remains important in how to contact GP practices. You can continue to get in touch through the traditional routes of phoning or face-to-face conversation; online services just offer another convenient route.

If you are interested in using GP online services, you can talk to the reception staff at your practice, or you can visit the NHS website –  type the postcode of your surgery into the search bar. Once you find your practice, look under ‘Online Facilities’ to see what services are available.

Before you can use online services, you need to register at your practice. The registration process will check your identity and make sure no one else can access your details. Once registered, you will have access to all the online services your practice has to offer.

Services offered by your GP may vary, as might the registration process. Contact your surgery for more information.
