Dr George Winder

Role: Partner Member – Primary Care

George is a GP at Oakwood Lane Medical Practice in Gipton. He is also Clinical Director for Seacroft Primary Care Network (PCN), Chair of Seacroft Local Care Partnership (LCP) and Chair of the Leeds GP Confederation.

After training in Leicester, George returned home to Leeds to work across a number of GP practices and in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust acute hospitals.

A Postgraduate Diploma in Co-Producing Health from Leeds Business School catalysed George’s ambition to help create systems that recognise equity as a foundation to a better society.

George is, at heart, a citizen of Leeds, growing up here and his family growing old here. He is deeply invested in creating a place for everyone to live well together, however that is best achieved.

“For Leeds to flourish, Primary Care must also, and as such I am a passionate advocate for its wellbeing in all its beautiful forms. If I wasn’t doing this, I would own a very unprofitable record shop in an alpine ski resort that only opened when the snow wasn’t fit to ski. Accompanied by my family, of course.”
